After the Football3 game,

We headed to the indoor of the same school and found our seats in the music classroom. The five of our high schooler educators introduced themselves and what were we going to do that evening. They said there would be 4 or 5 instruments that we could choose and start to learn from themselves. These instruments were voice, guitar, piano, and drumsticks.

Exercising time

We were divided into 1 or 2-person groups by our interests. First, I chose the voice. It was good to see that I was the only one who chose it. Because I was nervous about what was I going to do. But then, my educator was shown up as a nice and kind girl, and I was relieved. At first, we exercised my breathing and my voice by starting from the lowest note to the highest note. This was hard to try but every time I started to try, exercising became easier and comfortable. When I was ready, they and I chose a suitable low-noted song for me to sing. The song was “Take Me to Church” by Hozier. The first try was an unsuccessful attempt. Because I was out of breath at the half of the song. However, my educator handled it very wisely and patiently. We exercised our breathing again and again. After these deep breaths, I was able to sing the whole song. Also, I learned where to stop and take a breath! After I sang the song proudly, both of us were pleased with the result. Even though they are a student of music, they trained me in a very inspiring way and 15 minutes! Since this day, I ‘ve started to control my breathing easily and the most important thing, effectively.

Exploring time

After warming up my voice and filling my energy up, we switched our instruments. I sat down in front of the piano. Kai, my educator, showed me the notes all over. Then, they taught me an intro to a song. I tried it lots of times, but it wasn’t easy. After practising a lot, they added another note, but you had to press this note repeatedly. While I was trying to press all the notes I learned, my educator was pushing the pedal below with their foot. The whole process was very hard for me to continue endlessly. But I was feeling lucky to learn something to play in piano.

After switching one last time, I was introduced to guitar notes. My educator was very fierce to teach at least one of them in the last five minutes we had. I tried to push the notes in the strings as much as possible. It was not unusual because of my guitar-learning past, in fact remembering the notes and having the guitar in my lap felt nostalgic.

Final moments

When all of us experienced the instruments, we circled. We shared our emotions and feelings and what we learned from this service. We, the participants, felt very refreshed and happy as well as educators too. PS: Especially Tomaš had his best time! Turns out he was very talented when it came to playing an instrument. Then our educators gave us a mini-concert and made us even more pleased. They were amazing.
