Fit For Kids is an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership like ours (WINS), that our Portuguese partner, Aventura Marão Clube, has implemented in Amarante. Fit For Kids is a free program for kids who suffer from overweight or obesity and it includes sports activities and nutritional advice. Usually this program is offered to kids from 6-12 years old but Aventura Marão Clube gave it a twist. Go to to find out more about it.

Together with the local disabled center – Cercimarante, they are developing Fit For Kids with disabled people. People with disabilities tend to suffer a lot of overweight and obesity due to their condition, disability and lack of capacity to move. Together with the European Solidarity Corps volunteers in Amarante, they adapted the exercises to the clients of Cercimarante and, once per week, they get together and do sports (always mixed with fun). Truth is they are loving it.

However, don’t get the wrong idea that all disabled people are incapable of doing sports. Some of them, in the case of Amarante, are competing in boccia, athletics and futsal.
